报告人简介:
Chung K. Law is the Robert H. Goddard Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Princeton University. His research interests cover various physical and chemical aspects of fundamental combustion phenomena, with applications to propulsion, energy, fuels, and the environment. He is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering, a fellow of several professional societies including the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a past president of the Combustion Institute. Presently he directs the Combustion Energy Frontier Research Center sponsored by the US Department of Energy, and the Center for Combustion Energy at Tsinghua University.
报告摘要:
Since the 1970s there has been much advance in our understanding of the chemistry and aerodynamics of flames such that rational strategies can be devised to control their behavior in engines. In this seminar I will discuss several topics of current interest, illustrating the richness of their behavior: (1) morphology and self-acceleration of expanding spherical flames; (2) fuel-similarity of laminar and turbulent flames; (3) facilitated ignition in turbulence through differential diffusion; and (4) existence and properties of the low-temperature, NTC (negative-temperature-coefficient) flames.
